8 Signs You Are Reading the Statesboro Herald - Humor
Allen Harkleroad

Sometimes you feel like you need to step up and say something. So I did.

8 Signs that you are reading the Statesboro Herald

#8 You actually visit StatesboroHerald.com and wonder who's 8 year old kid built the website.

#7 The Statesboro Herald covers national and international headlines on one page but requires 6 pages for sports and 4 (or more) pages for classifieds.

#6 Your hands get dirtier reading the Statesboro Herald than if you rub your wet hands on a dusty dirt road.

#5 You frequently see many misspelled words and wonder if the staff knows that most modern word processors have spell-check turned on by default.

#4 The advertising sales staff claims that they have huge amounts of website traffic when trying to sell you ads on the website. In reality the Statesboroherald.com has a traffic rank of 1,690,411 ( it takes around 50,000 monthly visitors to get in the top 150,000 ranking so you do the math).

#3 When you pick up the Statesboro Herald 40+ ad flyer's fall out (more slick ad paper than actual newspaper).

#2 Advertising rates keep climbing, however, there are fewer actual pages. You wonder if it is a newspaper or a classifieds rag.

And the number one sign is...

#1 You quickly realize that the use proper English and grammar is not a requirement to write for the Statesboro Herald.

Might want to add this one too

The Statesboro Herald will not run anything negative (news wise) about a company that buys major advertising from the Herald. So much for fair, neutral, unbiased and evenhanded news reporting.

This is not a sign, however....

Do you wonder why you get two Penny Savers each week? One in your mailbox and one on your driveway. Talk about a waste of money. The one on the driveway comes the same day the trash is picked up so there are fewer steps to take when throwing it away.

The Penny Saver claims to have a circulation of 40,000, if everyone in Bulloch County and Statesboro get two each week you can knock 10 to 20 thousand off of that circulation claim. And let's not forget the free paper dispensers chock full of Penny Savers. You can knock a bunch more off of that circulation (actual reader circulation) number.
